Invisible Emmie (Emmie & Friends)Terri Libenson

Review “This is middle grade fiction at its best. A fantastic debut novel with plenty of laughs and tons of heart. Invisible Emmie is unforgettable!” (Lincoln Peirce, author of Big Nate)“This funny and heartfelt tale will ring true for anyone who’s ever felt invisible.” (Victoria Jamieson, Newbery Honor author-illustrator of Roller Girl)“Clever, funny work by a great cartoonist. Reading Invisible Emmie sums up middle school: You laugh, you cry, you get beaned in the head with a volleyball.” (Stephan Pastis, author of Timmy Failure)“In her first children’s book, cartoonist Libenson offers strikingly different visions of seventh grade through two very dissimilar narrators. A well-executed twist will have readers flipping back to see what they missed while cheering the strides made by Libenson’s no-longer-invisible heroine.” (Publishers Weekly)“With all-too-familiar middle-school drama and an empowering lesson about speaking up and bravely facing down embarrassment, this should find an easy audience among fans of Wimpy Kid or Dork Diaries books.” (Booklist)“Many readers will recognize themselves in Emmie and her friends, who are at once self-conscious and eager to be seen for who they are. A highly relatable middle grade drama.” (School Library Journal)“Libenson’s clever tale will entertain readers in the throes of middle school as well as younger students both wary of and intrigued by their near future.” (The Horn Book) Read more From the Back Cover This is the story of two totally different girlsâ€"quiet, shy, artistic Emmieand popular, outgoing, athleticKatieâ€"and how their lives unexpectedly intersect one day, when an embarrassing note falls into the wrong hands. . . .All the crushes, humiliation, boredom, and drama of middle school are compressed into one surprising day in this extraordinary debut graphic novel. Invisible Emmie (Emmie & Friends) by Terri Libenson is Half-illustration, half-text. The drawings are a bit more cartoon-like, but really beautifully done. Wonderful story for girls who sometimes feel that they blend in to the walls so well that they almost don't exist...and how there is hope, even then. It's not necessarily "for" or "about" introverts...but it touches on many experiences that introverts can relate to. I highly recommend for introverted girls who don't want to be the center of attention, but who don't really like being completely invisible either.

Invisible Emmie (Emmie & Friends) by Terri Libenson is I bought Invisible Emmie for my 10-year-old niece Isabel and she loved it so much, she has bought it for her friends as birthday gifts. AND, a guidance counsellor at her school saw her reading it and asked what the book was about; when Isabel explained it to her, she wanted to buy a copy for her mini library, so Isabel gave her the book too which is now part of the guidance collection. Hope to see more Emmie soon Terri Libenson!

Invisible Emmie (Emmie & Friends) by Terri Libenson is amazing book! i feel like this is a amazing book for.ages 8-12. very nice. invisible emmie is about a girl who is never noticed at school. she is unpopular, too. her mom has rules.against foods and is.very, VERY mustle-y. meanwhile, on katies perspective, kaitie is popular and seems to have almost the perfect life. emmie has a freind named brianna who is very smart. so, they dicide to write love notes to their crushes and then emmie drops hers. this annoying kid named joe picks it up and shows it to everyone. leaving it there for.the spoiler. read the book and find out what happens!! so long!!-Mrs. derp :-3

Invisible Emmie (Emmie & Friends) by Terri Libenson is Stylistically this book was very enjoyable for my 11-year-old daughter to read. Sometimes other books can seem like a bit of a bore or too much of a task to read, whereas the way this book is written was easy and enjoyable for her to get through quite easily. That was important to me because I think this book has an invaluable lesson for girls and boys her age to hear and learn. I think all parents should get this book for their kids to read and even read it with them. It was really cute and an all around great book!
